SFCLT Receives $631,500 Grant for Affordable Housing in South Florida

SFCLT Joins Forces to Deliver Affordable, Mixed-Income Housing in Wynwood Norte

South Florida Community Land Trust (SFCLT) is please to announce a new partnership to bring an ambitious vision to life in Wynwood Norte, a once tight-knit residential community that has transformed into today’s coveted arts district amid rising prices. SFCLT, with its parters — The Richman Group and Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida — will repurpose a site owned by Miami-Dade County Community Action and Housing Services Division (CAHSD).

Thanks to Miami-Dade County’s leadership, we’ve taken a key first step: securing site control for this transformational project.

The project builds on the foundation of the Wynwood Norte Community Vision plan (pictured above) by developing a mixed-income apartment that keeps working families and elderly households in the community while providing civic services and commercial opportunities that foster economic growth. The development will include community space, providing a home for a new CAHSD Community Resource Center. The project would also feature ground floor retail and a walkable, neighborhood-friendly design that encourages business activity and a stronger local economy.

The reality is that large-scale affordable housing developments like this require strategic public investment to succeed. By leveraging local, state, federal, and philanthropic resources, we can create a financially viable solution that supports working families and ensures long-term stability. And a timely commitment from our local leaders would allow us to compete for state funding, bringing outside dollars into our economy.

Public-private partnerships like this one don’t just provide homes—they create jobs, increase local tax revenue, and strengthen communities. To succeed, they require local, state and philanthropic leaders to come together and drive it forward.

We’re committed to making this vision a reality, and with the right support, we can get there. If you’d like to learn more or get involved, let’s connect
