Ft. Lauderdale, FL – South Florida Community Land Trust (South Florida CLT) recently announced its plans to expand into Miami-Dade County, thanks to the support of its partners at “JPMorgan Chase Foundation” and “Citi Community Development.”

Charles T. Dabney, Jr. was recruited as Miami Market Manager to lead South Florida CLT’s expansion.

Charles has strong ties to Miami; he spent a significant portion of his early career with Greater Miami Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and Miami-Dade County Public Housing and Community Development, building lasting relationships and sustained impact in the community. His depth of experience in real estate development and community building, as well as his role as a top loan officer, affords him unique insights into meeting the ever-evolving changes of the community. He enhanced his skills in the lending industry in northern Florida, most recently serving as Senior Program Officer for Real Estate and Lending with the Jacksonville Program Office of LISC.

Now back in Miami, Charles is bringing together trusted partners to make a positive impact in the community by providing permanently affordable housing.

“I’m excited to be back in South Florida and with an organization that is a proven market leader in creating change and making a lasting impact in the community.  I look forward to applying my insights and professional experience in helping to implement comprehensive, community-based housing solutions at a time when the affordable housing crisis in South Florida has reached epic proportions,” said Charles.

A native Virginian, Charles was raised on a farm in an 18th century historic home near Colonial Williamsburg, which he says his family has spent a lifetime restoring. His family has a long history in academia, teaching in the public-school system. He is a graduate of Hampton University, where he received his B.S. in Business Management. Charles was awarded his M.S. in Public Policy and Management with a major in Environmental Planning from Carnegie Mellon University’s H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management. He completed additional studies at the University of Maryland – College Park, earning a Graduate Certificate in Housing Finance.
